finally someone using the lathe for good
You don’t need to use Whisper, I got some names mixed up. I was thinking of wyoming-faster-whisper which uses the FOSS speech to text system faster-whisper, but there are others that can be used.
Edited my original comment to fix that.
Wyoming is a protocol for voice assistants.
It ties together:
Home Assistant can interact with that protocol. I think the addons run servers for various components used by the wyoming protocol server that the integration can use, but I run it separate from Home Assistant, so idk.
Not sure what futo is capable of, but you can use anything that can communicate with a wyoming server. I’m willing to wager you can, but idk.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT API and LLM models are orthogonal to this, but probably could be used as an intent or as the fallback when no other intent was recognized. So I’m pretty sure you could link up getting a response from OpenAI or any other LLM API, but I haven’t tried setting that up for myself yet. wyoming-handle-external lets you pipe the input text to the stdin of whatever program you give it and responds with the program’s stdout, so you could definitely use this to pass it to OpenAI or Ollama.
Checkout OpenWhisper Faster Whisper and Wyoming
edit: corrected name and added links
Had an idea to pre-print barcode stickers for various items that ring up the product as something similar, but cheaper. Then slap em on as you shop and checkout at either the self checkout or with a cashier.
Not sure if a database of products and their barcode IDs for certain stores exists, but you could also make a trip to do the scanning. I’m sure we could find at least one comrade at each major store to leak a database of barcodes.
Fractal is great if you use GNOME. Only downside is that it doesn’t have a UI for spaces yet
I like vertical tabs specifically for when I have a monster number of tabs open.
All the anti-GNOME, anti-Wayland, and anti-systemd people always seem to be chud coded. All this software has valid criticisms, but chuds always seem to latch onto weird social schisms and blow valid downsides out of proportion.
GNOME people just tend to not like bigotry, and that’s enough for chuds.
Outspending China on maglev, but its only for terrorizing minority urban populations, ultimately going unused because they’re less reliable than 150 year old handgun designs.
But they can absolutely free an entry-level consumer DJI drone operated by a local anarchist cell!..at least until they mount mirrors on the bottom.
His tombstone will read “still love the truck tho”
Lotta words to say GPL and offline-first
The tooling for Rust is the best out of any language I have ever written. Idk what you are looking for, but as someone who does backend dev in Rust, I can’t think of a language that even comes close to Rust’s tooling.
Infosec is going to be impossible without buying a Windows enterprise license and having all devices provisioned with policy to disable all Microsoft’s bullshit.

Idk if thats the wrong link, but how tf do UFOs play into this?
The Western left has a lot to learn from Hamas & Hezbollah’s media creation & dissemination strategies.
Rather than posting an unedited image or meme accompanied by a wall of ranting or explanatory text, they edit the original footage to simply label objects or explain what is happening.
If your post gets deleted, so does your explanatory text. Attempts to screencap the text degrade the quality of the original image, and video cannot be screencapped as trivially. Full fidelity of the post is reliant on corporations cooperation. Saavy people will use the Internet Archive, but that also relies on people remembering where to find the content that is no longer indexed for searching.
Meanwhile when Hamas posts a video, all you have to do is download the video. It can be supplemented with text or translations, but the core content is self-contained.
Embedding your narrative in the video itself also raises the cost for Western media to repackage your content with their narrative or citing your content in ways counter to your message.
Actually sweet, even if the CPU perf is underwhelming. What distros have full desktop RISCV support?
Chinese hackers liberate trade secrets.
American hackers terrorize infrastructure.
My prediction: China will have the first working net positive fusion reactor deployed in the field, but some US company will preempt the announcement by claiming to have the first one.
US fusion deployments won’t happen for 2-3 years after that announcement, at which point China will have half their grid running on fusion power.
Americans will all widely proclaim to be the “inventors” of fusion and winners of the space race, despite all reactors sold coming from China. Any attempts to present this information to them will result in a screed about “China stealing” or some shit.
