A good chunk of my work is scheduled turning off and on again in the right order so things don’t break
A good chunk of my work is scheduled turning off and on again in the right order so things don’t break
This is an unexpected benefit of being in Switzerland. Here I was thinking it was more or less a marketing thing
Now that is someone who has thought about this question a lot
Legally the product is no longer their priority, maximising shareholder profits is their priority.
Not many companies manage to not get twisted to a worse product for the customers, though their ads get really good
It would be interesting to see this not including infant mortality.
From my understanding that is where most of the “life gain” in graphs like this have come from.
A graph of how much older people are living would be better represented “ignoring” for lack of a better word the babies dying
Socialise cost and privatise profits.
Been the play for awhile now.
I feel like I am slowly moving all my data being with Google to Proton. Makes me a bit uncomfortable to be all under one umbrella again.
At least so far it seems they are a decent company
A culture of glorifying tans, mixed with needing a reason to show off your southern cross tattoo, beautiful weather and free public BBQs at parks and beaches.
Remember to slip, slop, slap
Worth saying I am sort of playing devils advocate here.
Change it to what? It is easy to back seat yell “Capitalism Bad” but change to what? Every other isim has it’s own laundry list of issues. Which one is least corruptible by sosciopaths?
You don’t think sosciopaths are going to take more than there fair share in socialism, or skew the system over time? They aren’t going to find their may to the top in every single form of government to change the rules to their desires?
Quite a few will argue that we aren’t even in capatalisim any more, it has been corrupted and changed, massaged by “government” to the point of failure, the Austrian school of economics.
So it is easy to stand on the roof top and say “Capitalism is the problem” but it seems like a much deeper rot to me
Three screens billed as “business expense” actually used as a sim racing rig.
But you will end up filling any screen space you have. When coding I very quickly fill out the space, to see files and folders I am intereacting with, communication apps, websites, IDE, ticket screen. Some days I wish I had 4.
By that definition to get rid of capitalism we need to get rid of the people.
This man out here living the line “kill the rich”
I was thinking about this the other day. I think no matter the system those willing to break the rules and find the cracks will always do so.
It isn’t a capitalism problem it is a human problem
Por que no los dos? Why the urge to dilute it to a black or white issue? Why can’t it be the people and the current society? I am a gaming addict, I know it is up to me.to change that and not fall in the hole. Could there also be a society change, of course, but it is not 100% my problem or 100% societies problem.
I can fight my own phyche and make small gains, then spend that spare time to improve my community.
Society is fucked, but we can all try and make it a bit better
Taking your keyboard example. Nearly all the popular keyboards haven’t been updated in a long time. They work (more or less) and so don’t need updates.
Under your system they would get achieved and new users wouldn’t see them.
How does your idea help in this situation?
Random thought, do Lemmy posts show up in searches?
I’m pretty sure that’s how I ended up at reddit. After so many google searches lead me to the site, I decided to check it out some more
As a slight positive it will hopefully reduce the reliance on wide spread pesticides and fertilizers.
For some people admitting they were wrong is too hard
I think GPT5 will be eye opening. If it is another big leap ahead then we are not in this local maxima, if it is a minor improvement then we may be in a local maxima.
Likely then the focus will shift to reducing hardward requirements for inforarance(?) Allowing bigger models to run better on smaller hardware
The amount of people addicted to caffeine who don’t even know it is crazy high.
The costs of withdrawing for some are higher than others, so for these people quitting isn’t just a day or two of headaches, and possibly their life doesn’t afford them the luxury of going through the pain and low productivity
Many factors play into it rather than just low self control, in case you’re wondering why you got down voted.
