Lando Norris has insisted that he is not “running out of time” to overhaul his substantial points deficit to Max

I truly wish McLaren weren’t complete morons in going about this season.

I truly wish McLaren weren’t complete morons in going about this season.

Well good news then. Because they aren’t.

No one expected Norris to do this well this season. No one expected McLaren to be favored to win the WCC. McLaren is exceeding expectations. That’s not the behavior of complete morons.

Sticking to your team ethos of not having a #1 driver and potentially missing out on a WDC no one thought you were going to get anyway isn’t being complete morons.

Edit: That said, I would very much like to see the team form up behind Lando for the rest of the season simply because of where we are.

It’s true, their R&D, factory and technical departments have been excellent, and their pit crews have been solid as well.

Sticking to your team ethos of not having a #1 driver and potentially missing out on a WDC no one thought you were going to get anyway isn’t being complete morons.

Potentially throwing away a WDC when it’s almost 20 years since your last is idiotic. At least if you have ambitions of being an actual top team. Red Bull will not flounder forever, Merc is gaining ground rapidly and Ferrari is building for the future. This season McLaren is the only team capable of challenging Red Bull/Max, but going forward there are absolutely no guarantees they’ll remain top dog. Not capitalising on a golden opportunity falling in your lap is moronic for a so-called big team.

    "

Asked whether Piastri lends him enough help, Norris answered: “Yeah, he helps me. But I’m not here just to beg for someone to let me pass. That’s not why I’m here.

“I’m here to race. He drove a better race than me, so I finished third, and that’s where I deserved to finish.”

Hahahah! This is actually a sick burn after the race where the team had to beg Norris to slow down to let piastri pass.

Team orders are the reason you have two drivers. I don’t understand why we have to be so coy about it. The point of competing is winning.

I can understand people being against team orders when it’s early in the season or when the lead in the championship is large enough. But to get the drivers championship I think team orders are a valid way of achieving it.

I resonate with this. The summer break is the perfect time to make this decision. You’ve had a majority of the races, and the faster driver will be ahead. If the other driver’s unhappy he’s had enough races to prove himself. He can try again next year.
