Stone was convicted of seven felony charges in November 2019, including for lying about his attempts to obtain information from WikiLeaks about Hillary Clinton’s emails stolen by Russian hackers and released on the eve of the 2016 election. Trump then pardoned Stone just before leaving the White House in 2020.
Seeing as Trump is pro Putin and Iran and Russia have a close relationship the only threat making sense would be Israel - apart from worsening US-Iranian relations in general.
If you’re willing to believe personal vendettas to motivate foreign policy, Trump did both order the killing of general Qasem Soleimani, and kill the Iranian nuclear deal.[1]
For whatever reason, Iran seems committed to undermine Trump once again this election, as they were in 2020. [2]
