I like a good list, and 2023 left me with loads to chew over. Ultimately I decided on this as my favourite five:

- Spider-Man 2
- Dredge
- Storyteller
- Metroid Prime Remastered
Alan Wake 2 was one of my favourite gaming experiences in a long time, possibly ever. It will join the list of go-to games I bring up when discussing games-as-art, and I love that there is a recent AAA example of that. It’s innovative, creative, wild and different, and still manages to also deliver a great survival-horror experience in the midst of the weirdness.
It’s a little demanding of you in the sense that you probably want to do the full Remedy “homework” before playing it, but I would say the impact in the end is worth it.

Death’s door is really fucking fun if you haven’t heard of it. You’re a crow who works as a reaper in a noir themed office space and you venture into the real world to reap souls but some shenanigans happens and you can reap a certain soul so you get trapped in the real world sorta. It’s fantastic
