Hello, Protestant German here. I’m hearing a lot about the infamous Quran burnings in Sweden, and find it very strange. To me it’s fighting fire with fire, and as Muslims are very religious I can imagine it hurts them a lot.
Can someone help me understand how this makes sense?
Maybe I don’t have the full picture. Thank you!

jsrksd2I want the 21st century to come to Sweden. A world in which nobody is ridiculed for their beliefs. But I said it somewhere before: you little bros are scared by Muslims taking over your country. You don’t understand that humanity evolves and cultures mix. So it’s a bad coping mechanism. Weak. But understandable.

jsrm4s9You do not seem to be empathic enough or open minded enough to accept that different people deem different things important. I don’t want blasphemy laws back. I want you to understand that you have no right to dictate what a Muslim deems hurtful or not. And to understand how childish it is, that when you know it is hurtful to them, that you keep hurting them.

jsrezhbIf that’s the reasoning you have, then nobody should say or do anything ever again, because someone, somewhere at any point in time could CLAIM to be negatively affected by it.
It’s not like they walked up and spat someone in the face, or punched them. They destroyed their own property.

Provocateurs will always exist, and every group of people (and even some individuals) that can be predictably provoked to the level of acting out will be provoked to prove that fact again and again. In a free and liberal society no group of people should react (to anything) like the muslims do when we burn the Quran, and until they stop being upset the provocations will continue.
