Hello, Protestant German here. I’m hearing a lot about the infamous Quran burnings in Sweden, and find it very strange. To me it’s fighting fire with fire, and as Muslims are very religious I can imagine it hurts them a lot.

Can someone help me understand how this makes sense?

Maybe I don’t have the full picture. Thank you!

So you want to provoke Muslims, so they get mad and you can say “look they’re mad.”

More or less. Provocateurs will always exist, and every group of people (and even some individuals) that can be predictably provoked to the level of acting out will be provoked to prove that fact again and again. In a free and liberal society no group of people should react (to anything) like the muslims do when we burn the Quran, and until they stop being upset the provocations will continue.

And at the same time don’t respect that religion is maybe more important to others than yourself.

    What?
