    I just found this community (thanks !trendingcommunities@feddit.nl !), so I’m sorry for necroing this but I have to make a confession.

    I have 4 open browser windows on my PC with over 100 tabs open on at least two of them (look each window is a different category of content okay!). And I have multiple browsers on my phone to replicate the same… “system”.

    I have a problem.

      It’s only a problem if the browser task hoards so much memory that you can’t use other programs anymore. ;)

        That’s why you need browsers (or extensions) that doesn’t load unopened tabs, and can can manually unload background tabs!

    If you’re on Firefox: Dustman addon. I have set it to 10 tabs per window. It can be temporarily disabled, you can specify the inactivity time before close and it keeps a history of automatically closed tabs.

    Also, so you don’t open the very same URL open more than once: Duplicate Tabs Closer addon. It can be temporarily disabled too.
