I only saw a little but Chet looked pretty aggressive going to the hoop and rebounding

It was a great showcase from both players. I think Chet has a more polished game right now, and he knows where to position himself to maximize his size and skillset. I think OKC’s sets help too.

Wemby on the other hand seems to be everywhere on the floor, so I don’t know if it’s because of the Spurs’ sets that he always ends up being too far from the basket to make use of his size. He was excellent on defense though. Dude was on the 3 point line and was able to swipe the ball from a player driving in the paint with those long ass arms. And when a faster player loses him on the dribble, Wemby just met him at the rim anyway.

It was interesting that they weren’t matched up against each other on defense. Also, I wonder how both players will fare against actual big guys in Jokic, Embiid, AD, etc.

It’s really early still, of course, and OKC sat SGA so we don’t really know how they will work together, but Chet looked good. I was at the game, and even from Loud City (the cheap seats) you could tell he’ll be good. He doesn’t seem to lack any confidence, and scoring 21 in this game while also sitting half the game is nice.

Same for Wemby, really. It’s early, so we’ll see, but you can tell he’s very good. He had one drive in particular that was really impressive. The Spurs as a whole right now don’t really have the same caliber of team as the Thunder, so like someone else said in a similar thread, Chet may be more successful this year simply because of the team around him. But I’m sure the Spurs will quickly build back up.
