Honestly, if the idea of no trials don’t bother you, there are plenty more reminders why YOU shouldn’t preorder.
I couldn’t give less fucks about this tbh. I always pre order games I know I’ll play or that look interesting to me, and I’m not going to change it. Every single COD since BO4, every single AC since Origins. And I’m going to do the same this and every year. I didn’t regret it yet and if I would, there is always a refund option 🤷🏼♂️.
Pre orders are bad for consumers and for developers.
Presumably you care about the games you play, and supporting bad business practices that brings down the quality of the content simply makes games worse. You gain nothing by pre ordering, pre order bonuses do not have any value.
It used to make sense when games were on physical media as that can run out of stock on release. If you’re downloading it then there’s no point - unless you get a discount for a pre-order.
Time is the most valuable bonus for me. Pre orders usually come with early access these days, yes I know its a bullshit practice , but I don’t have that much time to play games anymore. So If I can play something I’ll eventually play anyway early, I don’t see why should I wait.
Diablo 4 was a great recent example, early access starting on the weekend for extra money.

Yeah if the reason is low stock for physical media, I get it.
