If all this talk of Bloodlines and Bloodlines 2 is inspiring you to go try out the original, please remember to install the unofficial patch. Seriously. You’re more or less incapable of finishing the game otherwise due to multiple potential hard locking bugs. Plus it fixes a ton of other minor stuff.
The game itself is great though and worth your time. It devolves a bit in the second half as you get into the parts that were thrown together by the rushed production, but the writing, OST and atmosphere alone are worth experiencing.
How is the gameplay. Often these old games are rightfully praised for their writing but I cannot force myself to play Baldurs gate because the gameplay looks soo tiresome to me
Well, it’s first person shooter where shooting is pretty bad (unless you invest a lot of skill points in it). Melee is okayish, very simple, basically button mashing. Luckily combat is just a minor part of the game. Dialogues, story, atmosphere, all this very much compensates for the lack of good gunplay.
It definitely is more of a story than anything else. The entire game parts are like the siding on a house, they could be damn near removed and the rest of the house would still be livable. I really wish someone would remaster the game, since BL2 probably will never come out.
