And your ux (probably gnome or KDE) is what looks like it has the solution here. Try that instead of acting like a libchild. Dual boot or whatever til you find a thing that works (windows updates gave been known to kill dual boots partitioned on same physical drive)

Run a windows (or android? Android seems lighter) VM, give it no permissions it doesn’t need, sandbox the fuck out of it, then sync from there.

I’d use mint or pop!os for a noob (yes, descended from Debian), a fedora atomic of some kind for a medium paranoiac who wants to game, qubes for your security culture types and anyone concerned about hostile states or major corporations, and arch for the nerds who want cred/control

The past <5 years gave been so good for Linux usability.

I had an easier time getting fonv to run smoothe on Linux than I did on windows 8.

And 11’s compatibility is even worse.

Linux is the only option.
