Who are the scab mods who are coming in? Are they getting paid?

And that is why Waze has to go away. It’s giving people info on cops, so that’s becoming politically inconvenient for Google.
I hear you. The best I can do is tell myself that hopefully the Coast Guard personnel and other mariners got some practice/training which will be useful in emergencies in the future. And it’s still right to try and save someone, even if they put themselves in the dangerous situation.
Wow, I love slsk and have been using it since literally about 2004 (it has absolutely defined my taste in music), but I didn’t know there were any options for clients except for the main one. This is great!
If you’re reading this and you’ve never checked out slsk, consider this your invitation. I have spent hours trying to “stump” it by searching for increasingly-obscure music. Someone always has it on slsk.
EDIT: HOLY JESUS HALLELUJAH IT HAS DARK MODE
Those sources… are… interesting…
What’s a good seedbox provider these days? I had one over ten years ago, but I don’t even remember what that company was called.
How do we prove we’re not robots? Fucking select the picture with traffic lights or buses, right? How was this allowed.
I used to work at a liquor store and we had one regular customer who paid with a bitcoin card. This was around 2015 or so. It was funny because he said it was because of “anonymity” but everyone knew him as “the guy who pays with bitcoin.”
No, and I also seriously question people’s obsession with gold.
Hey. Biplanes are actually much more relevant in today’s world than crypto. They aren’t common, but there are still new biplanes made because they are a valid solution for certain problems. Unlike blockchain.
When 3rd party apps are blocked on July 1st, Reddit is no longer going to support accessibility features that blind mods and users need. Reddit’s owners don’t seem to have considered how much work it’s going to be to provide said features “in-house.”
For real, as an American I’m super grateful.
there are very few people who would prioritize a replaceable battery over other features.
I gotta gently push back against this. You may not know them personally, but there are a LOT of people who have gone back to dumbphones over this. IMO, this is a large part of why dumbphone sales are catching up on smartphone sales for the first time in years. I even know some elderly folks who stopped using cell phones entirely when smartphones stopped having replaceable batteries (easier to going back to having a landline when one is retired/not raising kids, of course).
There are very few people who buy the currently existing smartphones who would prioritize this feature, yes – because anyone who does prioritize this feature has been excluded from the entire smartphone market for several years now.
You use terminal because you know what you are doing.
I use terminal because I want to feel like a hacker in a 90’s movie.
We are not the same.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!
No seriously, .compact reddit on my phone and old.reddit with RES on my desktop were all I ever wanted. They haven’t gotten rid of old reddit YET but I can see the proverbial writing on the wall.
Hahahaha fuck. I love it when tankies are a self-solving problem.
I believe those people saying lemmy is funded by the National Endowment for Democracy were being sarcastic. Thanks for rounding this up though, I appreciate people who do the due diligence.
Nice, fuck alcohol. I quit drinking years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. My life is so much simpler and more fun now.
IMO Reddit had been sinking into enshittification since New Reddit came around, with the suggested posts and the ads.
However. No one expected the process to lurch forward so quickly. I think the Reddit admins were trying to enshittify things slowly, but after looking at what happened with Twitter in the last year or so, they realized they could “tear the bandaid off” so to speak, and maintain (perhaps I should say attain?) profitability.
It’s a bunch of horseshit. I was never comfortable with so much of the internet being concentrated into corporate-owned spaces and I’m glad to see that other people feel the same way.
Yeah between this, abortion rights, and the affirmative action thing… it’s gonna be a rough next few years, but in the long term the Republicans are toast. I think what we’re experiencing now are their last spasms for power because they know they’re on the way out.
Just look up the amount of registered democrats vs. registered republicans in this country. IIRC there’s like half again as many democrats.
It’s almost like the only reason republicans ever win elections right now is due to is voter suppression.
