I am here to help build and support vibrant communities not controlled by Big Tech that help others solve problems, examine new ways of thinking and improve their quality of life.
Take dividends and donate them to Fediverse servers. As your enemy gets stronger, so do you.
Sorry for the delay. Suffered another job loss a few months ago and had to work my second job like crazy. A couple accounts are in collections. I flew to see family in Japan, got another job and am looking at ways to boost my income and get ahead. No one’s going to do it for you.
Neurodivergent individuals are a thing. We do have different mechanisms of function for our respective brains.
That having been said, it is our cross to bear and the world isn’t necessarily making accommodations for us.
Try it. Not everyone responds to opposing views like that.

Not saying we shouldn’t donate to worthy causes, but if we’re going to call using free software without paying abuse, then there are many technology users to round up.
The front page of Lemmy, much like reddit, is full of fear and arguments.
Fear porn generates clicks and sells ad space.
With all due respect, there’s more in the direction you mention, but there’s more in the direction of opposing views, as well. This was the entire point of moving to the Fediverse: to get away from the restrictions and whims of u/spez and Big Tech.
Keep looking around and talking to other people. This is a better place than Reddit: you just haven’t stumbled upon all of the evidence yet. ;)
Respectfully, I’m giving OP the benefit of the doubt assuming they were either looking to get something c/offmychest or look for a solution. I think we offered them some. :)
There’s nothing wrong with controlling / filtering the things you allow into your news feed.
Yes, there is a need to stay informed, but TBH the only immediate things one really needs are:
All of which can be accomplished without a Twitter, Reddit or Fediverse news feed.
You can’t function if you’re in a bad headspace. If you need to restrict your news intake, not only is that OK, but it is at times required and healthy.
Google sometimes deplatforms people as well. Regardless of one’s politics, one can’t be positive it won’t happen to them should the winds change.
I’m missing the rage over the switch. I like GNOME.
Points for civility in vehement disagreement.
IKR especially considering the space program, shipbuilding and aerospace & automotive manufacturing explosions down South in the last 30 years. To name a few:
Airbus
Austal USA - Mobile AL
BMW - Spartanburg SC
Boeing - North Charleston SC (whoops…bad example)
Ford
GE Aviation (somewhere in NC)
Geely (owns Volvo Cars) - (somewhere in SC)
GM:
Haas F1 team (somewhere in NC)
Honda:
Hyundai - Montgomery AL
Kia (somewhere in GA)
Mercedes-Benz - Vance AL
Nissan
Volvo Trucks - Dublin VA
I’m probably missing a Toyota plant in Texas. Ole Miss aided with the HondaJet program.
All right. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Yes.
Providing context doesn’t magically make something morally correct. It illustrates the circumstances.
There are all kinds of circumstances under which people commit grave wrongs in the face of adversity. If we’re going to punish everyone for every wrong committed regardless of surrounding circumstances, there’s far more punishment to dispense, regardless of political stripes.
Yeah. For-profit prisons need to go. Privatization works on many things but not this.
The Bill of Rights included an abolitionist amendment, but they were not confident it would pass, hence its exclusion.
Not defending it. Don’t shoot the messenger.
@bjoern_tantau I’ll keep that name in mind for the next account I create. In the meantime, which would be better?
