Hey if it works it works. COTS parts are the way to go.
For reference, the metadata leaked is: Sender id, recipient id, if the recipient saw the message, when the message was delivered, all reactions and the length of the message.
For example, this is what the server sees in an encrypted message:
type": "m.room.encrypted" "event_id": "$UE04iZS0h4U-_ZhKwPESa3ah1r6u1sURytMhU8GyVnc" "content": -{ "algorithm": "m.megolm.v1.aes-sha2" ciphertext": "AwgAErABPeRzzy2zD0X3/XYuP6Z/ GoxYVEFYafFRtrDUalTz9HnOvy+Y7v3Mb/ ucbMiyKTe74h2QdgRaHQk9JaDN5Cwq6hmHQuy5pxxnNki9 YZ4BD5mNbaWc5kL7k2+qftumwHWxdYvUTLBwz3dK6c29ik 69wcX1wyB6NReP90/2xVxHQjHH727yzLyrYuOYapTy9Esdzc HXvoIJ5AIVLSzaAEulY5YcwhHQQQF3LHNrkwZ2W0AYy77Z WzfutYGinFpqXWRTXFM65V9V7nVkmPjjOCNc+Eiz70h0zRu QQC2XXZcWhbt7rwKPeeoffaWHhmNiMOGBioBkpzlljw4" "device_id": "RYIDRJCFLQ" "sender_key": "EhlZmYo85D8ICluhCNUIk+U/ TbTzMG5oB+b7z/+w8Bs" "session_id": "j+fsgZDUu2ocbB8fLWpQlJFBNnNkGLOefZnBceTI4OE" origin_server_ts": 1725666785233 "sender": "@criticalresist8:matrix.org" "room_id": "!RsmVqNrD6NO0EJIN:genzedong.xyz" "unsigned
And after decryption, you get this:
type": "m.room.message" "content": -{ "body": "i love when dogs do that with their head" "m.mentions": - { "msgtype": "m.text
Matrix as well, although that’s Mossad.
Have you used both of them?
Yes, I really like the Signal UX. It does everything I need it to and very few pointless gimmicks. Telegram feels a lot more scuffed and further from a normal SMS app. Granted I’ve never used either on desktop.
Telegram is also CIA
I’ve been using this in combination with librewolf and I really like it. I’m not a huge fan of vertical tabs when you have over 30 tabs, but it’s good for websites you visit often.
Why Telegram over Signal?
Matrix also also really, really bad when it comes to metadata. I would not trust Matrix when it comes to sensitive things or communication that can be used against you due to how much metadata it leaks. I also find the double standard here were people don’t trust Signal due to funding but ignore funding issues in Matrix.
It depends. Are you doing this for an organization? If so, mattermost is a very good option if you want good, concrete division between topics and a slack-based UI. If you want 1:1 or small group communication between people who know each other, Signal is the gold standard. If you really need privacy or are doing 1:1 communication with people you don’t know, use Briar. If you want cost over all else, matrix is very resource intensive and XMPP is a better choice. What do you want to do and who do you want to talk to?
Did you just fall out of a coconut tree? Software exists in the context of what precedes and surrounds it.
Ironically, Ubuntu has been the worst in terms of audio drivers and has broken around 5 times on me. Arch has been a lot better as it’s only broken once on me and it was a Bluetooth thing. MacOS does break a lot less than Linux though
Sorry, I can’t hear you. My audio drivers broke again.
MacOS is good for work because it’s easy to administer remotely, more secure and less annoying than Windows. Also someone else is paying for it.
Cool, just installed
Waymo is now being subsided. And thus the cycle beings anew. Sometime soon they’ll be cheaper than Ubers and then the money will dry up.
This seems like it’s just a TCP VPN protocol. What’s the advantage over Shadowsocks here?
mods, this is 1984
The point of vpns is to prevent your ISP getting the data
I use YouTube enhancement suite and have cinema mode always on. I can’t see recommended videos, I can’t see comments and I can’t see the thumbnail. When I can I just use VLC though.
