2·3 days agoYeah, the sidecars make handling very weird (but they do look super cool).

2·3 days agoSidecars aren’t great, they are tricky and have a high learning curve. Cargo bikes or trikes might be better, or an e-pedi cab with throttle, however these options will either fall short of your range requirements or require extra batteries (swapped in or wired in) and more likely than not would require you to be able to rest your feet on the pedals so that might not be ideal for your situation.
I’d recommend maybe taking a look at ICE scooters/mopeds to get the range you’re after for less money or maybe mini-vehicles (Smartcar, Kei trucks, etc.). There are EV offerings out there that could work too, but they’ll be pricier.
I’m going to go ahead an pin your comment to help get more responses, hope you can find something that works well for you and let us know how it goes!

3·5 days agoIt doesn’t really say but I suspect it’s to prevent people who live in the dorms from bringing in some garbage with a sketchy battery that is more likely to cause a fire.
I do agree the practice of forcing people to use your vendors is sketchy but apparently it only applies to people who live on campus (still though).

11·10 days agoCan’t speak for anyone else, but I’ve never had this experience in any bike shop: Most places seem happy to get people into riding and are fine with a utilitarian outlook on cycling.
How is that abusing them exactly?
How is that gaslighting?

1·12 days agoYep, on phones and other mobile devices, lower resolutions help significantly with battery life and framerates. Tiny super high resolution displays are pretty much pointless unless you’re using a VR headset (then the resolution matters more).

Technology@lemmy.world•Study Boldly Claims 4K And 8K TVs Aren't Much Better Than HD To Your Eyes, But Is It True?English
1·12 days agoWell, the thing is the 1080 on the 4k projector still looks a little better than it does on a native 1080 because it upscales with pixel shifting. It doesn’t look as sharp as 4k, but still a bit better than 1080 (at least from ~10’ at 120").

2·13 days agoPixel shifting is for when it upscales, isn’t it? If you have a 4k source, you’ll get a 4k picture from what I read about this series.
That said, 1080p upscaled definitely still looks better compared to the old projector (though the newer one is also brighter, which also helps).

21·13 days agoI get what you are saying, however at 120", less than 20 feet away, you can literally see the individual pixels (especially at 1080). It absolutely does make a difference under the right circumstances, that is empirically true. You can test it yourself if you are skeptical but I’m telling you for a fact that on resolution alone there is a noticeable difference for anyone who has 20/20 vision on a big screen closer up.
