News@lemmy.world•Furious Elon Finally Addresses Why He’s in New Epstein Files
5·1 month agoNah, for Elon to get someone pregnant, it has to be done through IVF to make sure the child is male, because he’s a sexist too

World News@lemmy.world•Backing away from Russia, Trump says Ukraine should win back its land and NATO allies should shoot down incursionsEnglish
3·2 months agoBroken clocks are right twice a day and all that. When you say as much utter shit as Trump does, just by sheer chance, some of it might sound somewhat reasonable occasionally.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK How to opt out of LinkedIn using your profile to train generative AI (see post body for direct links)
5·2 months agoMy guess would be something to do with intermediary application systems used by multiple companies tracking who applies where. Who knows what they’re doing with that data

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK How to opt out of LinkedIn using your profile to train generative AI (see post body for direct links)
291·2 months agoWish I could opt out of having LinkedIn entirely. It makes me so annoyed that so many jobs require you to have it in order to apply

191·2 months agoI mean they kinda are, just in a different way. Russia claims that all Ukrainians are actually Russian and they don’t deserve their own sovereignty. They essentially want to commit a cultural genocide of Ukraine and any Ukrainians that refuse to relinquish their culture or identity as Ukrainian.
I’m no expert though, so I’d appreciate if someone with more in-depth knowledge could expand on this a bit.

2·2 months agoIt might be too late for you, but for anyone else who stumbles across this:
The easiest way to transfer emails is just log into a client like Thunderbird, let it download them all, select all, then drag and drop them all to your new provider. If you have a lot of historic emails, filter by year and do one year at a time

Of course I know him. He’s me
Pretty sure Wikipedia has a single button that changes all present tense to past sense. Someone who’s more familiar with it correct me if I’m wrong though.
I scrobble all my navidrome activity to listenbrainz, which gives a weekly playlist of recommendations. You might have to wait a few weeks before it can establish your tastes depending on how much music you play.
I’ve just switched my OnePlus 8T over to LineageOS without GApps and it’s very useable, the only thing missing for me is contactless payments.
I’ve not used GrapheneOS but I can’t imagine it’s really all that different to Lineage right?

If all else fails, try making a GDPR download request. They must legally provide you with a copy of all data they have about you, including your uploaded photos.
In Luigi’s Mansion 2, there is a boo who speaks in binary called Boolean… At least, in the British release. In the US localisation, its name is “Combooter” which is a far less satisfying pun.

14·3 months agoData centers use massive amounts of power. Reducing that power consumption would be a net positive on the environment.
That said, looking at the site, I can’t see anything that suggests they’ve done any research into that. Instead they seem to be promoting their research into keeping kids safe online, with the only mention of the OSA being a short description in their recent June report with no comment about anything to do with it’s obvious shortcomings.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Your Lemmy/Reddit/Fetlife/etc profile is tied to your real name and browsable. How screwed are you?
3·3 months agoTechnically it kind of already is. My username is the one I’ve used with little variation for 13 years, including my youtube and my website where I show my face. Everyone I know IRL knows my username, some of my friends even call me Spatchy and it would feel weird if that particular group didn’t (to the point I occasionally have to remind them it’s not my real name).
I’m still weirdly obsessed with not sharing my data with companies even though more of it is public than is probably sensible.

If you use Zigbee2MQTT in Home Assistant, you actually can update the firmware on Hue devices, obviously it’s up to you if you actually want to push the update though
