Is this really a hot take? Discord is awful for anything but active discussions in the moment. Trying to retrieve any information from the past on a Discord server is infinitely worse than even Reddit’s (commonly mocked) search function.

Hey bud, not sure if Lemmy or an app you were using multi-posted this about 5 times. Or maybe you were intentionally trying to drown us in your celebratory beans. I won’t judge.

My problem with places like discord is that it is nearly impossible to effectively search for information there. It also regularly seems to me that the servers all have more rules than most subreddits. I don’t want an echo chamber, I want a giant forum with niche little rooms where there can be some resemblance to free-flowing ideas and discussion.
