I’ve actually lost about 4-5 kilos this summer kinda by accident, I haven’t been dieting or exercising more rigorously. I just haven’t been drinking regularly or getting high and eating all the food in the house. I also am developing a better body image - I used to perceive myself as a lot less healthy and attrative than I actually am.

People will ask for something to my face in work, I will nod, say yeah no problem, and immediately forget what they wanted. If I had to read and remember something important in a high-stakes situation I’d be doomed. I’d just have to make something up or pretend I never got a secret message

I love it when a barber posts a video of them cutting someone’s hair, clearly hoping to go viral and have good marketing, but they just destroy someones head. Just ruin their entire hair. And then step back and think, yep, this is the one to upload.

Im only a couple hours but I’m having a very good time so far.

I read Captain Momo’s Secret Base yesterday, a manga by Kenji Tsuruta about a woman who lives on a spaceship with her cat, Grandpa John. Momo is on a three-year space flight to deliver cargo on behalf of the company she works for, but she’s basically unnecessary, she’s only there because someone wrote on the form for her ship that it would be crewed. Its a very cute story about a woman who doesn’t give a shit about her job at all and spends all her time reading on company time.

But the thing I want to talk about is the nudity. Momo is nude for nearly the entire manga, except for one chapter where she puts on a top for what is basically a zoom call, and is still bottomless. I think its nice to see actual good nudist representation, there’s nothing sexualised about her nudity, she is just a character who is naked all the time, and it makes sense for her to be naked all the time. She lives alone on a spaceship and is lazy and presumably doesn’t like wearing clothes. She is basically me during lockdown. The nudity is never even mentioned, its just a part of her character in a way that isn’t at all exploitative or weird. I’m glad it exists and normalises nudity a bit, and shows nudism as a comfortable lifestyle.

Its very rare to find nudist characters in stories that aren’t either sexualising nudity or about nudism. Stories about nudism are basically all the same - its about how nudity is good and comfortable and body positive, etc etc, but there’s not much there to actually make a story out of. And stories that sexualise nudism just annoy me.

Good nudist representation. Funny story. Cute cat. Vaguely anti-capitalist. It gets the Moss seal of approval

I got Nier Automata and it occurred to me that I actually had no idea what kind of game this actually is. I knew there was sexy androids killing big robots but that was it. It turns out that this is actually like five different games in one. Its an open world exploration game with a quest hub, and also a spectacle fighter, and also a 2d fighting game like the Smash Bros Brawl story mode, and also space invaders sometimes. Its cool though I like it. And those androids sure are sexy

I’m very surprised to learn that Kate Bush is English, having barely heard any of her music, because she sounds so irish in army dreamers. Like she has the exact same pronunciation and accent as people I serve in the pub.

Apparently her mother was Irish and she did learn Gaeilge as an adult. I just didn’t expect someone half Irish to sound 200% Irish

I can understand being annoyed by the lack of proper thought given to world building, but recently I’ve come to accept that sometimes the vibe and aesthetic can come before cohesive worldbuilding. And I love worldbuilding, but Edgerunners, for example, would lose some of that noir chic if everything was done online imo.

My boss just said “hmmmmmm…” in the group chat. No context. No followup. What the fuck is she on about. Is she just thinking? Does she not believe what people are saying? Is she just letting us know she’s always here?
