Glad to see this getting some press. I got my ballot and have also helped 2 others register this year. Many people don’t realize how easy it is to vote abroad!
That’s the wrong conclusion. If two Democrats were on the ballot, they would likely still both lose because of first past the post voting. If you really want to support “making elections more democratic” push for ranked choice voting, or proportional representation.
In case you’re asking in good faith… The downside is that non-citizens voting is simply not a problem. The number of cases is extremely low, there’s nothing to “fix” here. The biggest impact of this policy would be that actual American citizens who do not have, or lost, or forgot to bring their proof of citizenship will not be able to vote. It will predominantly affect poor and marginal populations. People that don’t have a passport, don’t have easy access to their birth certificate, or aren’t aware of the new regulation. Fewer people voting is 100% the goal with this policy.
I didn’t take their comment as sarcasm, just a bit snarky…I think you’re both on the same page here
Oh and I just noticed West Virginia. Not a spotted owl, sorry!
Face looks too pale for a spotted owl. Lacks the white x. Also habitat…seeing one in a residential area means almost certainly a barred. You’re seeing its back which can look pretty spotted on a barred owl.
Very superb visitor :)
I assume many of those are bots or paid trolls
50% lethality in humans, not wildlife
Amazing story. I can’t believe she’s only 50…not that long ago. Plenty of those dinosaurs booing her from the stands are still probably flooding facebook comment sections.
You’re right, but it does have a secondary impact when it can determine control of congress and the state legislatures. Remember, states control their individual voting processes for President, and there’s plenty of ways for them to “cheat” legally or otherwise.
Fitzy would never
There’s no simple answer to your question, just like there’s no quick solution to the problem of inequality. But one premise you’ve mentioned isn’t quite correct. The democratic party hasn’t really been “ruling” for most of that time. They’ve controlled the presidency, yes. But for all except 2 years, they haven’t controlled Congress (it’s been either divided or republican controlled), and they haven’t controlled the supreme court. That said, a lot of Democrats are still happy to push the status quo, and there’s plenty of warranted criticism to go around.
Guess I was wrong and many of them did get drafted. Will be some great hockey to watch for sure.
The dude that beat up his girlfriend and got kicked off his college team? Gross.
It’s not quite that. It’s the players from the PWHPA that will fill the teams, possibly management from the PHF is involved though. Almost none, if any, of the PHF players will get signed for the new league. The hockey will be great to watch but it’s unfortunate how poorly they handled the end of the PHF…players signing 50-100+K contracts right up until the day the league folded. Harsh business i guess.
Well, you can get water out of your tap, so there’s an easy alternative. Use a filter if your tap water is iffy.
