I’m really really REALLY excited for boost for Lemmy. Def going to full purchase. I’ve been using Connect in the meantime which I also really enjoy using

I still have boost for reddit installed lol but I made sure to donate on multiple occasions before I inevitably stopped using the app. I tried all the apps, but I loved boost the most

  • Kind of a typical response, but my android’s custom os. I think the OnePlus 8t is fantastic, BUT specifically thinking of the custom rom (Nameless13) I installed on it to replace OOS

I’m not that old, but I still came from flip phones and nokias, so the amount of evolution is incredible

I like this custom rom so much because as a tech savvy user, I can have it do whatever I want. It has an insane amount of QOL features, fantastic support team, better battery life, better responsiveness and energy usage, frequent and reliable updates, devs pushing out good features that users actually want, no bloatware ads or BS, a ridiculous amount of options and customization, and full control. The only single drawback was the stress and effort of learning how to install a custom rom, but it felt extremely rewarding and as someone in IT, it’s something good to learn. Plus having super nice and helpful support team and users both, made it way easier

  • Thanks for the reply. I just looked into VIAL, is it overly complex? I just want to avoid more complications or problems. Is your suggestion for this just to allow me to customize the knobs better? Or do you have other reasons that I should switch? Cause it turns out that I do still have the FN issue

We took the keyboard apart (which took ages, so I want to avoid having to do that again lol, though I guess that’s part of the whole custom keyboard deal), and fixed the stabilizer. But then that created clacking from the left side of the backspace, so something was hitting, I managed to fix that mostly (good enough) without taking the keyboard back apart

I also learned that the GMMK Numpad comes with north facing PCB for some reason, but the I found that they sold their own south facing PCB which I was glad to hear. We started taking it apart, and one of the screws stripped sooo bad that it took us the whole night to figure out how to get that damn thing out. We ended up drilling it out (I don’t know the details, my partner is an engineer so he figured it out) so thank god that’s done, but just another complication that came up

Seems like nothing is ever easy when you buy anything now

edit: Forgot to mention, someone else (last comment by u/trash@lemm.ee) mentioned using vial with QMK - Is this what you did? My concern is that since my numpad is external, it’ll make this a lot more complicated and tedious. I just want simple, but maybe that’s not an option in my case. Maybe I’ll just deal with the software until it’s not meeting expectations anymore

  • I completely agree. It makes sense that AI is not good at determining truth vs fiction. I think it’s more important for us as users to just search for information on our own, then determine the “end answer” with our own judgement after reviewing different sources and experiences (taking each individual answer with a grain of salt)

That’s why, I personally think AI search engine won’t be the best all-rounder for all types of information that’s not niche, deep searching which is IMO better found on forum-like platforms where people (enthusiasts) share sources, their experiences, what worked, what didn’t work, and why. For AI, maybe just simple bland information, like an excel formula, or how to hot wire a car, is better

  • Question for you - pretty soon here, I’m going to use PDS to edit all my comments with info about why it’s edited and redirection to the fediverse

I have some comments or posts that are guides, which I will have migrated over to Lemmy. Can I mass edit all my comments with PDS, then go back into reddit to select few individual posts/comments, and add a link to the specific Lemmy guide? Sorry if this doesn’t make sense lol

  • Sorry for the wall - In my opinion and experience, it certainly can be. And considering how flawless the action combat is, I think just the pure enjoyment from that is more worth it than people give credit for - at least giving it a chance. I originally played from 2013-2016 and then returned again from 2020-2022. The catch up was extremely easy (they handed out gear packages for the “base new content”, but I was already level 80 so the tedious leveling was already done)

When I came back, I had actually played some of the new characters as alts for fun, so I started from level 0 - then took them all to 70-80, and some 85-90. So I got a taste of how leveling was

This is also in the guide, but there is quite a lot you can do that adds up to help leveling go pretty damn quick. It’s very brainless and easy though, no challenge - so I understand how it could be difficult for anyone to go through that. Just a guess, I think it took me like 10 hours max to get to 80?

Since the RISE update, 0-60 (or 70 or 80?) became the new “tutorial”

I’m not sure I understand what you mean about undodgable damage sources all over the place. I don’t recall anything being super difficult except for Redeemers, which are already way more forgiving than mechs in Lost Ark. I had a lot of fun in and don’t particularly remember current raids being bullshit, except for the tiny ass hitbox bitches for my xgun Kai lol

edit: took out some rambling :)
