Yes, that is the situation and it’s bad. But what I’m saying is that there’s people basically using the situation as an excuse to do Islamophobia and Xenophobia. Like a different Muslim country like Iran could indeed send a trans woman at some point. The problem is Algeria has reactionary laws, not because they’re Muslim.
I haven’t looked into Algeria’s history of bad LGBT treatment, but I wouldn’t be surprised if France (the hosting country) is to blame somewhere along the line too, all things existing in their historic and material contexts.

I don’t think it’s problematic to think a former French colony who France has meddled with (and the surrounding region) since then often backing the worst reactionary options, might also exist within that context.
Like as I said I don’t know enough about Algeria and their circumstances. But it’s rich for westerners on twitter in countries going through their own backsides into reaction to take a high and mighty approach.
