I’m just one US citizen but I’d like to apologize to all Ukrainians on behalf of 50% or so of all people here. Our leadership is disgusting.

The scuffle began following Zelensky’s answer to US Vice President JD Vance comments that Ukraine must agree to U.S. peace terms.

When Zelensky began to respond, Trump said, “You are not allowed to talk.”

Holy shit the sociopathic arrogance of Trump and Vance is horrifying, but this was the cherry on top.

“It’s going to make great television,” Trump said after the argument. The press briefing ended shortly.

“It’s going to make great television,”

I can’t say I’m shocked that these are his personal standards for running the most powerful country in the world in an international setting.

“Just say thank you.” Good god. I would have loved to see Zelenskyy lay Vance out for that, Buzz Aldrin style. But because he’s a superior human being to everyone else in that room, he did not.

That was physically painful to watch. It’s beyond comprehension that snake oil seller became president. TWICE.

Europe, I hope it’s not needed, but prepare as if WWIII is coming. I don’t know if this time US will be an ally or not.

All this WWIII talk is tiring, Russia has no allies, even if NATO or Europe should get into a full scale war with Russia it would not be WWIII.

Yeah I literally couldn’t finish it as my blood was boiling. What giant fucking pieces of human garbage both Trump and Vance are.

I refuse to believe the american people will let him sit for four years. It’s just impossible to fathom that a single person can still defend this walking piece of wasted oxygen.

I feel truly sorry for all of you having to live in the US of today. Please don’t give up on your decency, solidarity and humanity.

I’m not an American, but can I ask how they can get rid of him before his four years is up? Is that what impeaching is? Didn’t they already do that last time? Didn’t seem to work…

I’m no expert on american politics, but from what I understand they would need to impeach him or him stepping down due to mounting resistance from the public. Impeachment needs a majority vote (2/3 I think) which won’t happen unless the democrats have enough votes.
          Last time they did not.

The last seems unlikely, but I do believe most republican reps will change their tune if their constituents threaten their job security.
My reasoning being that they are in it for themselves first and foremost.

What confuses us (read: me) in Europe is how much shit they all get away with before voters change their mind. Hopefully more and more americans get fed up with the administration as prices rise and allies choose to look elsewhere for trade and weaponry.

Gloating that you were right at the end of the world. What a strange flex.

I’m going to assume you don’t have a strong grasp of just how fucked the electoral college and voter rights are in the US.

        https://www.aclu.org/news/civil-liberties/block-the-vote-voter-suppression-in-2020

        https://www.cgpgrey.com/blog/the-trouble-with-the-electoral-college.html

        https://www.democracydocket.com/analysis/how-long-lines-affect-turnout/

I don’t expect you to read those. Because you’re lobbing easy potshots and offering no constructive criticism in response to my admittedly frustrated sarcastic comment.

These are for people that are interested in understanding the problem and would like to organize grass roots efforts to combat it.

I’ll post organizational resources when I get to my desk.

Oh, I have a pretty good grasp of how the messed up, charred remnant of an electoral system the US has works. Turns out you don’t get to ignore the intricacies of US politics because every now and then those idiots do something like this and make it your problem. Plus thanks to cultural imperialism the media we consume includes more insider breakdowns of that stuff than of our own political system. Welcome to the cultural colonies, friend.

For the record, I’m not gloating about being right, although I was right. But since I didn’t get to vote or campaign or otherwise participate in you wrecking our entire thing as collateral damage, impotently giving you crap about it is the only piece of agency I really have on this. As far as I’m concerned, you all did this, as a group, and the survivors are going to be hearing about it from the other survivors for a very long time. You know how chauvinists keep bringing up how the French were cowardly or the Germans were nazis when there’s any good spirited ribbing across cultures even though it was almost a century ago? Well, that’s you now. Because what else can everybody else do.

I mean, I will do my best to keep my own country from following suit, for what it’s worth, including any type of tactical voting for anybody who isn’t an outright fascist and has a chance at stopping them. But I was going to do that anyway, so it doesn’t really count.

Best not keep him from the war.

I do hope that this results in Europe’s leaders understanding the importance of finding a way to end the Trump regime. But he just seems so entrenched. Roy Cohn taught him well (their reluctance is understandable).

It’s going to be a long road.

I was hoping for mineral deal with US to drop in water, because it’s a bad deal for Ukraine and orange bozo Trump thinks he can push around Zelinskyy just because he’s in desperate war and has no choice.

Also to act like a fucking petulent child and behave like total dick at someone who comes asking for help and all you can think about are profits, get your morals fucking right because republican’s moral compass is spinning at fucking 50k RPM.

This lovely little talk did in fact kill the mineral deal.

      EDIT: From the article

According to CNN, Zelensky left the White House shortly after and the planned signing of the mineral deal as well as a planned press conference were both cancelled.
