My work gifted me a plastic coffee mug, which I’ve been using on and off for my tea. The lid cracked yesterday and it sputtered nice warm tea on my shirt.
Replaced it with a thermos. Stainless steel, keeps the tea hot and my hands cool. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’ll last a while.
Having a stainless steel (I tend to avoid plastic for hot food) thermos mug is great. One perk is that you can keep it in a bag without getting coffee everywhere.
I got a complementary travel mug from a car dealer and, if you’ll forgive the pun, that thing has been my daily driver for three years now. But you might’ve convinced me to find my thermos, I’d almost forgotten how nice it is to have hot coffee a few hours after I poured it.
I bought a thermos mug cheap from TK Max years ago, and I’ve made coffee at 6am and been able to drink it warm at 3pm. It’s amazing. I.have to remember to let it cool before I stick the lid on because otherwise the coffee stays too hot sometimes.
As an added bonus it also fits in my bikes bottle cage so I can have hot coffee on rides as well.
I love my thermos.
Man, vacuum-sealed cups and flasks are one of those little things that remind you we have been living in the future for a hundred years or more. I have a Zojirushi tumbler that exposes about 7 in2 (45 cm2) to the air and still keeps coffee hot for a couple of hours.
