I don’t really follow Kanye West or celebrities in general, but my vague impression from past incidents that managed to reach my consciousness is that West will say and do pretty much anything that generates publicity for himself.
This motherfucker seriously needs his Nazi ass beat down. There needs to be a whole lot less tolerance for these fuckers.
I wish he would be collectively ignored. He’s not well, but he’s also just got vile views that aren’t worth sharing. (This isn’t a critique of the person who posted this, by the way.)

I’m genuinely not trying to argue. You can be both horribly bigoted and have mental illness. I myself have mental health issues (who doesn’t, really?) and indeed, I am also not spewing the toxic nonsense Kanye is. It hopefully goes without saying that pointing out his mental illness isn’t excusing the wildly inappropriate things he says and does.
I mean, he isn’t well. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but it does explain them.
They’re also not enormously wealthy new money, so they’re going to have a different understanding of the system from someone who was enormously privileged, but still subject to some of the negative effects of capitalism.
To be clear, I am not defending that Nazi, I am just pointing out that peoples political ideology is largely determined by their relationship with the means of production.
