Contributors include Piotr Sobolewski, who previously oversaw pivotal contributions to the core systems that defined Disco Elysium. These groundbreaking mechanics, celebrated for their depth and ingenuity, reimagined how RPGs handle narrative, choice, and player agency.

So this Piotr guy is the only one from the Disco Elysium team they announced that’s part of this project? Not the writers or original creator of the world or even the artists?

“Groundbreaking mechanics” isn’t what I remember Disco Elysium for. The stuff most people care about is the writing, world building, and the art.

There’s huge red flags all over this project. I wouldn’t touch it.

Honestly, I’ve been burnt too many times with crowd funded anything at this point. Nope, unless the campaign comes with, we’ll release the full source code if we go under, I’m a solid nope.

Good luck to them but there’s no way I’m putting any money into crowdfunded efforts anymore; get it into a early access and I’ll think about checking it out because I enjoyed the heck out of Disco Elysium when it came out.

I’m interested in all of the spiritual successors, but it should be noted that the standout quality of DE to me was always the writing and the world building, and I don’t think any of the prominent writers are involved in this project. If I remember right from the announcement some months back this project has a writer from Destiny 2 and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, with the main Disco Elysium connection being Piotr who was systems designer for ZA/UM.

It still sounds interesting from the article and I’ll check it out when it drops, but it isn’t really the spiritual successor I personally am looking for. That would be something by either Red Info (Kurvitz/Luiga/Hindpere/Rostov) or Summer Eternal (Argo Tuulik et al).
