Not just tougher but brighter and more power efficient, too.

I think the most exciting part of this for me is the possible reduction in price for last gen OLED monitors.

Wouldn’t it have to be 5x cheaper to make up for the lost lifespan? (If you’d use it until it dies)

Honestly it depends on the price of these new models. I live check by check so buying 5x monitors over the years would be easier than paying a larger sum for a better one.

If I can afford these new ones I’ll most likely go with those, but judging by the prices of the latest and greatest right now, I doubt I will be able to.

Oh sure, totally depends on the circumstances.

I’d say wait for a few months after the new ones were released. Usually prices drop pretty quickly and then it might be a way better deal. I bought an LG C1 about 8 months after release and it was around 40% cheaper by that point.

I don’t know your circumstances, and it’s your money to do with what you like, so I’m sorry if this is unwelcome or inappropriate advice, but if you are living paycheck to paycheck, there are probably better priorities for your money than the newest generation of OLED monitors. Which is basically what you are saying, but I know how easy it is to fall into the trap of “keeping up with the joneses” on internet comments, and someone reading the comment and then buying a new generation OLED monitor at the expense of building their emergency savings because they can “afford” it without some serious thought and reflection on what that decision means would be tragic

There’s a reason I’m still using a seven year old monitor thats half broken and artifacts in the cold, lol. Hence why I’m looking forward to price reductions.

I only have one hobby and thats PC gaming and a bit of scripting. I don’t sub to services, I don’t have needless bills. It is what it is. :(
