Is There No Way to Automatically Record Phone Calls Anymore?
I’m still using an old phone (LG G7 ThinQ), and their Phone app has a built-in recording.
If I wanted to use another phone app (or when I upgrade phones), I would lose this feature. And I have looked (albeit not too much) and found that there’s no way to record phone calls unless you root or it has to be built-in on the phone like some Samsung or Xiaomi phones.
i specifically use Cube ACR
as far as i know, since android 11, google forbid built in call recording to every manufacturer
the ban for recording, was there a good reason?
Privacy, I assume
More likely concerns about legality in certain localities.
It’s a standard feature in GrapheneOS
I hear ya mate, and not even Samsung now. Definitely not comfortable using a third party either.
There’s a Call recorder on F-Droid that is in active development, it’s open source. High quality call recording requires a rooted device.
Not sure if this helps any, but I’m currently using this app on LineageOS (Android version 10) on a Google Pixel 3a.
On my previous Galaxy S5 device I didn’t need root for this, however on my current Android 10 device root is mandatory to record calls ☹️
I’m using this: https://gitlab.com/axet/android-call-recorder
F-droid: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.github.axet.callrecorder/Edit: add f-droid link
Best solution is to unlock bootloader, root your device and use Basic Call Recorder Magisk module. Feature-Packed, fast, stable.
asking to transition the conversation to email or just start with email. Calls for me have been simply dumbed down to nothing other than informal conversation. If I have some try to talk to me about professional things, then i ask for an email, and I will email them back. Also, ask for any documentation by email because anything they say to me is on deaf ears unless there an email that can be sent with it. I have given up on phone calling. It is just nothing more than an annoyance for me. Text me or email me. Calling me is useless.
Good Lord, you sound fucking painful to work with. Explaining complex shit over chat is a massive fucking pain in the ass.
Explaining complex topics over phone calls is worse
👌👍
This is the kind of thing I would be reporting to management. Emailing back and forth for a week to fix an issue we can fix over the phone in 3 minutes is a massive waste of company time.
If it is an issue that can be fixed in 3 minutes, then I don’t see how that is turning into multiple emails over a span of weeks. Also, most people are not being paid enough to be on call out of work, and I would rather not have a phone call off the clock. I never got reported to management. In fact, more trouble seems to happen from these phone calls where I have to just remember what was said instead of reading an email for when I misremember a task or crucial step.

Very easily. People are lazy to respond. Your responses fall into the fucking aether that is in their inbox. They send you back a useless reply and then wait several hours or days to respond. The opportunities are endless.

I don’t understand what that has to do with this conversation. It might sound crazy but you can actually call people while you’re at work.

Or you can just do it while you’re on the phone?
They’re not the right communication method for every conversation. But refusing them outright is also the wrong choice for every situation.
Sorry but coworkers and businesses refusing phone calls makes me fucking irate.
Lazy to respond to emails & having a “black hole inbox” seems at least as deserving of being reported to management.
Except I have no control over what shows up in my inbox, and its inherently disorganized. Same goes for many others I’m sure. We should have moved away from email 10 years ago.
Bullshit… That’s what mail rules are for.
Learn to use them.
Bullshit. They do not work. At least not in gmail.
Isn’t it illegal?
Only in certain places.
In the US, for example, there are some states that only require consent from one party involved in the conversation to make recording it legal.
Other states require consent from both (or all) parties involved otherwise it would be illegal.
Pretty sure it is. Only third party software and custom ROMs allow it
