    I did not realize the two-point conversion was not always part of the game. Wikipedia says it was introduced to the college game in 1958, the AFL had it in its pre-merger era from 1960-1969 but it went away with the merger, Canadian football adopted it in 1975, and (as the article states) the NFL finally adopted it in 1994.

      Reading more I also didn’t know the NFL has finally instituted the defensive two-point conversion; it just popped into my Facebook memories the other week a time when the Panthers had done this but got no points and a friend explained that was only a rule in college.
