I was surprised Merc wasn’t better but Aston has struggled with straights and high-speed corners the whole season so it wasn’t a huge surprise they were mediocre here. Silverstone might be rough for them too, especially if they don’t have any upgrades coming. Hungary should be their next strong track, so when we get there we’ll see a true representation of how far behind they’ve fallen/how well the others have caught up.
It all depends on budget, really. They’ve said from the start that the focus is winning in a couple of years, so maybe they spunked the whole budget for this year during the winter break to get to a solid platform and will now have to focus entirely on next year’s car instead.
If they bring upgrades over the summer they have a chance to keep up, they’ve hired good people and the new factory is online since May. If not, then, yeah that’s probably it for this season and we better pray Nando is still sharp next year.

Also, Alonso seems to like it, even though he’s never won there! Could be spicy. I fear they’ve fallen back for good now though
