Yeah 100k should be minimum wage here in Seattle honestly. That’s enough to get by comfortably and not have to worry too hard about necessities, though if you want to get really fancy and buy a small one person starter home you’ll need more

If you aren’t using a million dollar yacht as a runabout for your billion dollar yacht you’re the “poor” that they’re taking about.

Look, first of all, let’s not assume that anyone paying child support is in some way lesser than other people just because they couldn’t get along with the other parent.

Second of all, the motherfuckers you are mocking would never willingly pay child support

I thought it more about the pettiness of the expenses. I mean, someone whose truck needs repairs isn’t ‘less’ than other people, but many people who have their piece of junk in currently-working-condition regard themselves as currently far wealthier than they actually are simply because of the alleviation of that recurring expense.

If we voted from behind a veil of ignorance, imagining ourselves as a composite of one eight-billionth of everyone combined, imagine how fair our leadership could be.

Ill never understand the arguments against unions. Maybe boomers have issues with it. But if you’re a young person, time and time again has shown unions actually increase your paycheck.

Paycheck, but perhaps also safety regulations and other work conditions (e.g., mandatory rest time)

Man people don’t understand that shit, I still hear people talking about how overtime causes you to pay more taxes and bonuses are taxed higher, both are untrue.

I was a young manager in retail. There were rumblings of stores trying to unionize, and so here came the corpo antiunion videos and meetings. To this day, some 20 years later, I still hate myself for nievely playing those videos to my employees and not saying anything. I still talk to some of them and actually apologized for having them go through it.
