I watched some of the new Takeshi’s Castle with neither subs nor dubs and found it enjoyable regardless. It might be the way I watch anime going forward. Asserting dominance through willful ignorance.

For me it used to come in TV with hindi commentary, which was absolutely hilarious lol.

MXC was the best. That is so cool that it is a global phenomenon to hilariously dub over other countries media. It makes me wonder what English language TV shows have hilarious commentary in other languages now. This could be a fun rabbit hole.

Fun fact: in Germany, the 70s series „The Persuaders“ has cult status because of this. Everywhere else it kinda flopped, but the German dub is soo hilariously nonsensical that everybody loved it.

The people that were in charge of the dub are the same as for all the Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill Movies.

The UK version was narrated by Craig Charles and he really made it better just by adding silly comments over the top. I always used to laugh when the water cannon challenge was on and he would excitedly say “don’t let them penetrate your rings”
