I want to get my wife a digital picture frame. Just a little screen that we can add pictures to. Nothing too complicated.

Half of them out there run on frameo. A friend of mine has a frameo, it seems nice. The privacy policy isn’t great. Facebook, Google, the usual offenders. Supposedly, it’s end to end, so the pictures are secure. I don’t know and that

Is there a decent alternative? I’m not against going with a flash drive, if that’s my only option.

It passed the test for me… I read up on it and liked it. I put it on a separate IOT wifi network and it’s routed over vpn so not exposing my IP address. It works really well and very happy with it.

I read the privacy policy and thought it was pretty decent. And yes, all traffic was encrypted which was good enough for me.

Quick google led me to https://opensource.com/article/19/2/wifi-picture-frame-raspberry-pi

I figured there was a raspberry pi option lol. Other than that, yea maybe create a video of a compilation of pictures using some kind of video editor (i like davinci resolve) and then put that on a flash drive to have it cycle through the photos. That way you can have it be dynamic and can control the speed, transitions etc.

Thats just off the top of my head tho. Hope that helps.
