What is this called? A banglink?
Anyway, I want to banglink a post.
I know I can banglink a community: !environment@aussie.zone
But what about for this post?
https://aussie.zone/post/132034
I tried several different ways but none worked:
!aussie.zone/post/132034
!aussie.zone/c/environment/post/132034
!environment@aussie.zone/post/132034
!environment/post/132034@aussie.zone
You can use this extension: https://github.com/cynber/lemmy-instance-assistant
Unfortunately doesn’t work for posts:
When you view the same post on different instances, the links may look like this: https://lemmy.ca/post/634937 vs. https://lemmy.world/post/79489. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a way to determine what the post’s URL will be on your home instance,
Due to this, there is no way to link to the post on your home instance. Instead, we can generate links to community pages, such as:
Interesting.
I guess this is not supported even on Lemmy’s server side. Actually, it kind of makes sense, because to get such a link, your home instance would need to have discovered the target community, which is not always the case.
As a workaround (works, but tedious), you have to open the target community in your home instance, find the post, and then you get the link. I guess that it could be automated somehow later on.
