Let’s say I’m not very tech-savvy so no idea how to ask for help or what is going on. Since the app got a new look I can’t reply to any posts in the communities I’m subscribed to. A pop up in red appears on the screen and my reply is not submitted. I know this probably sounds unbelievable lame but the pop up shows so high up on the screen that it’s impossible to read the text! What is going on?

In your user settings there is a place where you can select your language. It’s a multi-select so you can select more than one by using ctrl+click.

Earlier there was a notification going around letting everyone know that they needed to select “Undetermined” as well as any other language you want to select because if you didn’t, you could get language errors. Worth a try.

Is it in the app or the instance I’m registered at? I don’t have such an option in the app settings.

Sorry I’m so late— it’s in the browser on the instance you’re registered on. I use Memmy and it doesn’t access that yet.

No worries, I found it, it was set to undetermined and now it’s set to English. Unfortunately this didn’t help. I’m posting this from a different app (Mlem) which doesn’t seem to care about the language setting.

What I had read said you had to select both English and undetermined, but I haven’t had the problem because I haven’t been that talkative yet :)
