If people start mentioning miles, bear in mind that a swedish mile is 10 kilometers.

its pretty much like what you’re used to elsewhere

No, its not. Sweden is much more extreme than most Swedes relize. But people think it is like that everywhere.
Sure, as a tourist from another western country it´s not a hugh diffrence for a short stay. But in international comparisons we always come out as extreme individualistic, secular with very strong confidence in the state.
Dont kid yourself that Sweden is “what you are used to elsewhere”. We tend to be of the the extreme part of the spectrum in a lot of parameters. Never in the middle.

You pay for everything with debit/credit cards or similar. Don’t waste your time and money on getting cash.
Follow the lines, and I’m serious about that. 😀 Hope you have a great trip 👍🏼

Visa and/or mastercard is king.
Pretty much no cash what so ever.
In most cities you can just wave your card at the card reader in buses, trams, commuter trains, subway etc and it charges the 39kr or something automatically if you have contactless payments-enabled card and the service is enabled (contact your bank and say you want it enabled if possible), also contact them to make sure your card is opened up for purchases from sweden.
Apple pay / google wallet are also supported on those (i often just unlock and wave my phone at them.

alcohol is insanely expensive and can only be bought at systembolaget.
As tempted as you might be, Swedes are not much for small talk with strangers so please dont try and strike up a conversation with your seat neighbour on the train or bus

We are not social creatures. We dont do small talk outside our tightknit social groups. If you talk to us, we will assume something is wrong with you.
Best regards
- everyone.

That’s amazing because I am not social either. I don’t talk to anyone, really.

Since you are a tourist we will help you though so don’t think we’ll look at you funny if you ask us something

Visit places other than the cities too. Discover small town Sweden because it’s quite different from Stockholm

After going to the two pizzerias, what is there to discover? :)

The local nature reserve, maybe the nearby runestone or abandoned iron ore mine. Take a ride on the steam train. Have an ice cream etc

When in a lift, don’t speak to anyone or try to make eye contact. Hell, don’t even breathe!

Where in sweden are you planning to visit ?
Depending on what city are there quite a few museums that are really good and scattered all over the place.
Do not miss out the great outdoors and the national parks.

I want to stay in stockholm for about a week, I found a really nice hotel, then I’ll go anywhere honestly. I want to go in gothenburg by plane and from there I’ll look for other places. I only have a backpack with me, so it’s going to be very easy for me to visit. I don’t really have a plan. Travelling for me is more of an adventure, I usually don’t have a plan. If you know some nice places I could visit just let me know!
