  • I never made it into algebra in grade school, my scores weren’t good enough. but I took a liking to software dev and the ability to create digitally. Self taught myself all the variables and flow controls and OOP, now been a professional developer for 15 years.

However I still suck at math, and these fancy symbols still scare me probably because they were never properly explained. But yeah, I fit right in the mold you describe. Glad I have the computer to crunch the numbers for me.

  • Celebs want to control their image, control their interviews, and above all avoid looking dumb. That can be hard when someone randomly walks up and starts asking questions when you’re just there to take pics and rub elbows while the cars do vroom.

I stand by that at least half these celebs know nothing about F1. They aren’t cheering for any driver or team, they don’t care about McLarens new upgrades, they got invited through connections and just want a photo taken on the asphalt to add to their IG.

Just want to point out reddit was open source, and built on top open source software. Techie weirdos built that community and the masses came along later. I expect we’ll see the same around here for a while, but people will contribute what they want to contribute… infosec and oss is pretty niche, I suspect it’ll be out grown eventually.
