    Probably helped that France and Germany were arch enemies at that time so the Kaiser used every chance to one up the “Franzacken” (derogatory German term from that era).

      This was pre-WWI. Not sure how anti-semitism compared in Germany and France during this era, but there was plenty of anti-semitism in France as demonstrated by the riots during the Dreyfus Affair.

        That’s the point. The post does not show some “intrinsic” value held by either of the two societies mentioned.

        It’s based on a cherrypicked one-off. Not very interesting

          I wasn’t defending Imperial Germany. I was saying anti-semitism was a problem in France too.

    Saladin was a remarkably lucky general in that he had the resources.

    He was a bad strategist, poor tactician and awful at managing logistics.
