#UsaElection #USA2024 #StopArminglsrael #FreePalestine #ClimateJusticeNow

This year we have seen many defining elections all over the world. On November 5th, It is time for one of the most powerful countries in the world — the USA — to go to the polls. It is probably Impossible to overestimate the consequences this specific election will have for the world and for the future of humanity.

There is no doubt that one of the candidates — Trump — is way more dangerous than the other. But no matter if Trump or Harris wins, the USA — a country built on stolen land and genocide on indigenous people -will soll be an imperialist hyper-capitalist world power that will ultimately continue to lead the world further into a racist, unequal world with an ever increasingly escalating climate- and environmental emergency.

With this in mind, my main message to Americans is to remember that you cannot only settle for the least worst option. Democracy is not only every four years on election day, but also every hour of every day in between. You cannot think you have done “enough’ only by voting, especially when both those candidates have blood on their hands. Lets not forget that the genocide in Palestine is happening under the Biden and Harris administration, with American money and complicity. It is not in any way 'feminist.” “progressive” or “humanitarian” to bomb innocent children and civilians — it is the opposite, even It it is a woman in charge. And this is of course one example among many of American imperialism. I cannot for my life understand how some can even pretend to talk about humanitarian values, without even questioning their own role In further deepening global oppression and massacres of entire countries.

So, Americans, you must do everything in your power to call out this extreme hypocrisy and the catastrophic consequences American Imperialism has on a global scale. Be uncomfortable, fill the streets, block, organise, boycott, occupy, explicitly call out those in power whose actions and Inaction lead to death and destruction. Join and support those who are resisting and leading the change. Nothing less will ever be acceptable.

Since it’s going to be shit either way, remember that getting Greens to the 5% threshold is attainable.

I am gratified by the rate of downvotes on this.

Greta Thunberg would, I think, be disappointed and angry that anyone would take what she said as a justification for ways to help get Trump elected. Let me highlight the very clearly written part that you seem to have missed:

It is probably Impossible to overestimate the consequences this specific election will have for the world and for the future of humanity.

There is no doubt that one of the candidates — Trump — is way more dangerous than the other.

If you want real positive change, listen to Greta and fight for change outside the system. If you want third parties, support RCV and proportional representation, to make them viable. If you want the end of the fucking world, then don’t vote, or vote for spoiler candidates within the current system that makes them unelectable.

She’s spot on, there needs to be more than a mark every few years done.

She also acknowledges that one is way more dangerous than the other.

There are far too many here on Lemmy who play this role of the ultra lefty and claim they can’t ‘vote for genocide’ and so push to vote 3rd party or disengage knowing full well that one possible outcome is a far worse result for everyone that matters to them.

Having your say is perfectly valid any day of the year, but running away the one day when you can make a direct impact not just on the presidential office but everything down to your local level says that all of the complaints the rest of the time where no more than theater.

I will categorically say I will never condemn people for not voting for more Palestinian death.

I don’t need to explain the mechanics yet again, it WILL be either ‘let them finish the job’ Trump, or ‘find a solution to end the conflict’ Harris as president.

If it somehow ended up in a situation where neither got to the magic 270 you can call the Trump stacked supreme court’s decision today.

If someone doesn’t care enough to take a stance on it then they accept whichever outcome as valid.

You can vote for Harris and sit with your shame for cosigning genocide. You could shut up about it and not justify her program for genocide, perhaps telling yourself it’s harm reduction, lie to yourself, take whatever you need. The ballot is secret after all, I won’t know, nor could stop you from voting. Or, you could make a conscious decision to vote for her and justify her genocidal program and all that that entails. You’ve made your choice to lie and falsify Harris’ program and gaslight people by saying she’ll find a solution. (She definitely will not. She promised to make the US military more lethal.)

You’ve made your choice. Now you have to sit with it.
