A lovely board from Beekeeb, cannot recommend them enough. By far the best service I’ve had. Leo is incredible. The original right now uses TRRS. He is working on this version right now too.

In my previous main keyboard the halves were connected using USB-C. However, I’ve currently switched to a piantor with TRRS.

I really liked the idea of USB-C: same connector everywhere, more data lines and no risk of short circuit during connect/disconnect. In practice soldering USB-C connectors was not easy for me, I encountered continuous issues and had to resolder them multiple times.

While my soldering skills are not great, I can reliably solder TRRS. I prefer having a reliable connection even though I have to pay attention to connecting and disconnecting it when the keyboard is not plugged in.

Just sharing my experience, I wish I could solder USB-C connectors reliably.

Just want to add a +1 for Leo!

I just bought (but haven’t received just yet) a Piantor from BeeKeeb and Leo upgraded me to the V2 with USB-C for free! He just checked in with me to make sure I was happy with that change.

So thanks Leo, and I look forward to using my Piantor with USB-C as well :)

Is the USB-C connector simply replacing the original TRRS or is it actually carrying the Row/Column information directly?

Just replaces- I was finding that the connectivity wasn’t as solid with TRRS, and this should also greatly reduce problems for when users disconnect the halves while powered.
