Vance calls it “The most important phone call of my life” but it’s with a twice-impeached, racist, rapist weirdo creep loser with 34 felony convictions.

I’d prefer to hear about Pikachu.

He’s weird and creepy, bit as a father of a 7 year old obsessed with Pokémon, Minecraft, superheroes etc, sometimes they do bang on about it. Telling them to shut up is not appropriate language but asking them to be quiet or to wait is perfectly fine.

Personally, I ask them to be quiet, then tell them I’ve got a song for them to listen to and out on black eyed peas. Then we all laugh together. Then I explain about peoples personal time and appropriate language and how they can sonetimes seem pushy and rude and if they are not careful people will be rude to them, in response.

This is a nothing of a story. He’s dangerous and weird in many ways. Abrasive language to his young family just shows poor character. But its not a story. We knew much worse before already.

The story is that he proudly shared this story. He thinks telling his young child to shut the hell up because Trump is more important paints him in a good light.

This wasn’t a hidden camera capturing a bad moment, this was Vance bragging.

It’s a story because he’s a weirdo monster that cares more about licking Trump’s boots than loving his kids. Even if that’s not the case, he told that story precisely to communicate how much he loves a man he previously described as a modern Hitler.

My 5yo has discovered minecraft. Do I want to listen to 12 straight minutes of wolf variants? No I do not. But I listen politely because he’s sharing something that’s important to him and that bond is precious to me. Vance is shit and my heart hurts for this little who’s learning that’s how people who love you talk to you

Lol, and just wait until they hit the YouTube videos about different characteristics.

Of course as parents we listen to their hobby, even if not interesting to us. However, they also need to learn that they cannot always be the Centre of attention, or they are in for a rude awakening when they aren’t.

I think Vance did it clumsily but its fine to moderate when you spend quality time with your kids, without being an ass, like he was. Being an ass is the least of his crimes though.

JD is an outhouse of a human being but this sounds like regular parenting shit that occasionally happens. I have a nephew who has definitely needed to be told to shut the hell up occasionally.

“Shut the hell up” is not an appropriate way to quiet a child, from infancy to adulthood. It’s rude and causes more issues than it solves.

As a father I often find it difficult not to swear in front of my children. However, I never swear directly at my children. Very inappropriate use of language , that to me signals potential abuse. Can you imagine how a father like that would respond if his child uses the same words at him?

The internet: Fucking shitass swear words lul. They’re just words like any other.

Also the internet: Think of the children when you say naughty bad words! Also show them all the tits and naked europe but never violence or death either!

That’s really missing the point. I don’t see the big issue with swearing in front of children. Hugely different dynamic if you swear directly at children.

The question you should ask is: is the type of language I am using with my kid likely to cause a fight if I had targeted at a stranger in a bar. If the answer is yes, then it’s inappropriate.

I posted this over on /c/news and honestly, I don’t think it’s that bad. Dude gets a call saying “hey, wanna be my vice president?” and his 7 year old won’t shut up about Pikachu? “Shut the hell up for 30 seconds, daddy is on the most important phone call of his life” is really not that crazy of a thing to say. We don’t have kids (yet) but I feel like every parent has had that moment in their life, no?

The fact that he was fine sharing this story publicly and didn’t see a problem says a lot about how he treats his kids behind the scenes

So, you’re a parent? And you have never once had a bad moment like that with your kid? Like never yelled at them in a high stress moment even once?

Recognizing that it’s a moment of weakness is what’s important, don’t brush it off and pretend it’s perfectly fine. Recognize it as a slip up in a moment of stress.

That was stupid and ridiculous too. Why is shit like this worthy of even writing about?

Even worse, why do you guys gobble it up?

Because every little thing like this only serves to numb the public to actual issues. When you can do nothing but talk about what color someone’s toenails are this week, or this …whatever this shit is…

This is why people are so burnt out on bothering with politics in the first place. Because half of the “politics” are…mindless inane shit like this. This isn’t news…this is tabloid shit.
