The Scadutree Avatar is actually the only boss fight the entire expansion that I actually liked. It did have the giant thorns AoE attack that sucked, but other than that, it felt like a truly worthy opponent with minimal bullshit. No stupid combos, no jumping around the arena as though someone gave meth to a baby Clark Kent, and I didn’t feel like I had to use spirit ashes or a summon in order to win.

I wish more of the fights were like that.

The most miserable thing about this fuckin’ shadow flower is the position of the two lock on points and how even though they have plenty of space between them that you should have a relatively safe position to stand and just wail on the bastard, it has a ton of AOEs and a weird ass hitbox so that even if you’re between the head and the base and it does the double circular swing and the arms don’t even touch your body, it still fucking hits you.

But it’s actually not that tough if you use fire. I can one shot the first phase with the giant fireball to its face and the next two phases only take 3 of 'em, which are easy to land in the 3rd phase after it does it’s crazy Lazer bomb explosion and tires itself out. That second phase is an absolute bitch, though. With my luck, the fucker always just gets stuck in a loop of doing the leaping charge attack over and over and over again.

I also sometimes get confused if I am going to fight this or the golden hippo when I am summoned. The room before the boss fog is nearly identical. Both necessitate an equipment change, but I never know if I want fire or lightning until I see the boss lol

I tried locking onto the stem instead of the face, but the damage reduction kept 2nd and 3rd phase going too long, which was dangerous for me. Somehow, even though it was riskier, I had better luck going for the big hits to the face.
