Well, I’m not happy, but things seemed like they were going to be much worse. Now I hope that we fight against those who blame Europe for its own mistakes and respond to the legitimate concerns of many citizens, otherwise in five years we will have much bigger problems.
So, what’s next? A coalition of pro-europe parties? Along which line? I’m mostly interested in what we can expect in terms of environmental policy. I fear a step back…
My bets are on EPP+S&D+Greens. No fundamental policy shift, Renew will support the coalition at least in part, maybe even become part of it. ECR and ID really are too diverse to properly gauge policy-wise. Really, business as usual: A centre-centre-centre coalition.
Von der Leyen said in the press conference that she will first hold talks with social democrats and liberals.
ID below 60 seats and Germany AfD below 15%
Doesn’t looks that bad again.
Is there a way to see how many seats Volt will get?
Don’t forget that the AfD doesn’t count towards ID and takes (currently) 14 seats in the non-aligned instead.
EDIT: Volt Germany currently takes 3 seats, I’ll have to check how many it is in total.
EDIT 2: Looks like Volt is only taking seats from Germany (3 seats) and the Netherlands (2 seats) currently.
