On this day in 1912, the Paint Creek Mine War began when West Virginia miners struck, demanding formal union recognition and fairer labor practices. The incident quickly escalated into one of the worst labor conflicts in U.S. history.
The event, also known as the Paint Creek-Cabin Creek Strike, centered on the area enclosed by two streams, Paint Creek and Cabin Creek. It is considered part of the “Coal Wars”, a series of armed conflicts between workers and coal companies from the 1890s - 1930s in the United States.
The strike lasted for fourteen months, and over 5,000 workers participated. Notable labor organizer Mother Jones (shown) came to West Virginia to support the workers, organizing a secret march of 3,000 armed miners to the steps of the state capitol in Charleston to read a declaration of war to Governor William E. Glasscock.
The confrontation directly caused approximately fifty violent deaths from armed conflicts between miners and strike-breaking forces, as well as many more deaths indirectly caused by starvation and malnutrition among the striking miners. In terms of casualties, it was among the worst conflicts in American labor history.

i am so fucking sick of having to police my fat cat and stop her from stealing the other cat’s food, but the other cat is a slow and dainty eater who will spend 7 hours coming back to her single meal UNLESS I stand there the whole time comforting her with a hand on her back (i do not have the time)

I have two bowls and one is in the bathroom and I feed the cat that doesn’t steal while I take a shower before/after my shift. The other one knows this and bangs on the door like half the time, but it works.
Controlled feeding would be a lifestyle change, but it allows for a more regulated intake that would make sure the dainty kitty gets enough and gourmand doesn’t get too much.

my gf usually watches her food during the day and I’ll feed the little one out near my desk when I’m home in the evening but I’ll still have to literally smack the fat one away like 100 times and if I walk out of the room for literally 10 seconds without putting it away, she will be there eating it
Ouch, I underestimated how slow you meant.
Kitten food is more calorie dense, if it’s viable to have two types (one for each) she would be getting more calories at the same eating pace which could hold her over until you get home and make sure she gets a full meal.
If she’s home most of the day, controlled feeding might still work. I don’t know the deets, but if it’s viable for her to control a later breakfast and you pick up controlling the later meal.
Like how long are we talking for her to get a full meal in? Process would be feed big, put bowl and little into bed/bath room. Open door when enough time has elapsed. Don’t know if that’s viable, but finding a way to control intake would solve both problems (fat cat and other cat not getting enough).
Get dainty cat a feedbag and refill it periodically. I’m sure a cat would be fine with that.
Maybe do a cat swap? “Hey i have a dainty cat and a food goblin cat i need to swap with someone else so i have either two dainty cats or two omnomgoblins”.
Is there a cat exchange website where you can swap cats with people until you have the right cat party composition? There ought to be.
