Can they make a dwarf-sized RPG as well? One I can finish, perhaps? Glad to hear they are on their way, though!

Yeah, maybe we can give them a second chance. Because you know baldurs gate 3 was basically an empty game with no content or no post launch support…

    Right?

Jokes aside, I’m sure they will do it. They are a fantastic studio.

I really think that the ‘‘density’’ of BG3 is it’s biggest drawback. Don’t get me wrong, the game is great, but it’s so daunting it’s also kind of a chore. It’s barely playable if you only have 1-2 hours every other day to play because that’s just not enough time to do any real progress on a quest. I honestly wouldn’t be able to enjoy it if I wasn’t on holiday.

I think most drawbacks of the game are also present in D&D:
-Combat gets boring and same-y very quickly
      -the time commitment
-when trying to wrap up all the stories, the game becomes “a chore to finish” and not “a game to enjoy”

That being said, I still liked the first two acts in BG3. If Honormode wasn’t a thing, I wouldn’t’ve finished.

I haven’t been able to play it entirely blind, which is a flaw, but it has led me to view this gameplay more as a form of authorship. You save scum and you try again because that’s not the story you’re trying to tell. I don’t save scum games that are less storylike, because the game is traditionally the gameplay. With tabletop RPGs, the story is the game. This is an interesting middle ground.

I don’t like this kind of ambition. It can only fail. BG3 was already big enough. Just make a game in similar scope and everything would be fine.

    Phrases like:

I think there is some tech that we don’t have yet,

And I don’t know what the specs are on the next gen [of gaming systems] yet, but I hope that it’s going to bring us closer.

Are very discouraging. And this easily could become the next Star Citizen.

I disagree. Imagine if people looked at DOOM and said “y’know what? This is good enough, we don’t need to push that envelope.”

And adding tech isn’t inherently bad. They are talking about gaming tech, not blockchain, JavaScript and brainfuck.

They have a proven track record of releasing real games in a timely manner. Where the fuck does your comparison get any merit?
