“won’t be using AI to replace developers”
“We think that AI is something that can help improve certain process in game production, but not replace people”
You can’t use AI without replacing people in some aspect. If a developer is using AI to do the job of two people, that second person doesn’t get hired. I’m not mad, it’s just the way things are going to be now but anyone who says they aren’t replacing people with AI is just looking for some good PR. Everything will use AI going forward the toothpaste is out of the tube.
If a developer is using AI to do the job of two people, that second person doesn’t get hired.
Or you have two much more productive developers… Not as black and white as you make it seem.
Or even just the same developer, but working less hours. Less likely, but possible.
20 years ago I worked for a grocery company that introduced self checkout terminals. Corporate messaging was that no jobs would be lost. They now run 6 self checkouts in most stores with a single clerk managing them.
It may be true that they didn’t directly let anyone go, but even if they just let attrition do the job, those positions are gone and never coming back.
